The Yak-42 is one of the few Aeroflot aircraft that did not need additional advertising. It is enough to mention that the Yak-42 holds nine world records. Among them is a record for a non-stop flight from Moscow to Khabarovsk on an aircraft designed for short-haul flights. This is especially surprising given that before the creation of the Yak-40, the company had not developed multi-seat passenger aircraft at all. The A. S. Yakovlev Design Bureau mainly specialized in designing training, sports and military fighter aircraft. Sometimes small passenger aircraft were also created. In early 1933, the AIR-5 was created, and in 1944, the Yak-8 appeared, designed for six passengers. Then came the four-seat Yak-12 and the ten-seat Yak-16, released in 1947. Even the first passenger aircraft created by the design bureau were characterized by a simple, lightweight and easy-to-maintain design with perfect shapes. These features were transferred to the first jet passenger aircraft for local airlines, the Yak-40, which brought the company worldwide recognition.
