World of Warcraft was released for North America and Australia on November 23, 2004, 20 years before the date of this video, with a 4-CD package for Mac OS X 10.3.5 and Windows 98/ME/2000/XP operating systems. The game required a 32 MB graphics card and 256 MB of RAM to run when it was released. The internet was still something that only 16% of the world's population had access to, and the highest-end phone on the market was the Nokia 6600, which could shoot 27 seconds of video at 640x480 resolution. The upload date of this video is October 20, 2024. Today, neither these operating systems, nor the technologies that seemed out of the ordinary at the time, nor the Nokia 6600 remain. But World of Warcraft still continues its life as a monthly-fee MMO. This video is here to tell the story of World of Warcraft's development that began in 1999, what happened during the production process, what led Blizzard to decide to develop WoW, and the 20 years that have passed since WoW was released. What it was like to live in this huge world that stretched like a mare's head from Auberdine to Theramore, from Undercity to Booty Bay; that is left only to those who know. Enjoy watching. Have fun.
