※ This video is part of the <World Theme Travel - Climbing the Sky Road, K2 Part 2-4> broadcast in July 2016. The distance from Skardu to K2 Base Camp is approximately 180km, and Askole, the last village that can be reached by jeep, is also called the 'start of K2'. It was called a poor village in the past because it is far from the city and the surrounding environment is harsh, but now the entire village is full of life due to climbers and trekkers from all over the world. From here, we take our first steps toward K2. The first journey to Paiyu (2,268m), called the 'heavenly paradise', passing through the barren land where sandstorms blow. We meet the porter, the companion for this arduous and difficult journey. Porter is an extreme job in the Himalayas, carrying 25kg of luggage and going through the vast gravel road, glaciers, and rocky mountains that seem to have no end! We will select porters from the village of Ascoli and walk with them to learn about the lives and stories of porters who have no choice but to climb mountains. From the heavenly paradise, Payu, to Urdukas (4,200m) and Concordia (4,600m), and then to K2 Base Camp (5,200m). The arduous path to meet K2 begins here. A gravel field covered with a huge mass of ice that has flowed down for tens of thousands of years, that is the Baltoro Glacier in the Karakoram Mountains, which is approximately 60km long. As you walk on the moraine (rocks or gravel accumulated in glaciers) of the black-gray Baltoro Glacier with a chilly air, you will find crevasses (cracks in glaciers) everywhere along the way, and after crossing this dangerous glacier, you will arrive at Concordia, called the 'square of ice and snow' and the 'garden of the gods'. Here, you can enjoy a sumptuous and magnificent feast of nature, with a panoramic view of world-famous 7,000-8,000m high peaks such as Masherbrum, Broad Peak, and K2. Finally, after an arduous eight-day journey starting from the village of Ascoli, where you had to cross desolate gravel fields and glaciers, you will encounter the lord of the sky, K2. On the way back after meeting the lord of the sky, K2, you will say a regretful goodbye to the porters who had been with you for two weeks and visit Hushe, a village with a connection to author Yoo Byeol-nam. You left on a vague path, thinking of people you met 10 years ago. Baltistan culture is established throughout the deep Hushe Valley. You will visit a mosque with a unique form where Tibet and Islam meet and arrive at Hushe, a village located at 3,050m above sea level. You will visit the village again after 10 years in pursuit of old memories. Surprisingly, you will meet people who remember you among the villagers who still have innocent smiles. We meet the porters in the photo who were smiling brightly again and make another memory. Finally, we go to the school to meet Husse's hope. This small school, which is run solely by volunteers and donations due to lack of government support, has children who take classes under the shade of trees because there are not enough classrooms. Even in a poor environment, these children dream bigger and higher than K2. Through them, we meet Husse's hopeful future! ✔ Program name: World Theme Travel - Climbing the Sky Road, K2 Part 2-4 ✔ Broadcast date: 2016.07 #GolladunDocumentary #WorldThemeTravel #Pakistan #K2 #Mountain #Nature #Hiking #Trekking #Travel #OverseasTravel
