Hello! Runners, Yunrunjae is back. Today, I brought you a pair of Chinese carbon running shoes that are surprisingly hard to find even when you search for them, but are incredibly cost-effective. They are the Miaobulhayeon (妙不何言) flagship running shoes from MIOB&CYIO. The first letters of the brand name, Miob, come from the Chinese pronunciation of the Chinese character Miaobul. These shoes are really crazy cost-effective. From now on, I will abbreviate these shoes as Miob. Chapter 1. How to purchase I bought Miob through Taobao. The shoe price was 199 yuan, and the air shipping option was 31.5 yuan, so it cost 230.5 yuan, which is about 44,000 won including shipping. Usually, when purchasing directly from China, AliExpress is used a lot, but if you receive the item with AliExpress' free shipping, it usually takes about 2 weeks, but if you use Taobao's paid air shipping service, you can receive it in just a week after ordering. But that doesn't mean Taobao is expensive. If AliExpress is focused on overseas, Taobao is focused on the Chinese domestic market, so the product prices on Taobao are often 50% cheaper. Chapter 2. Size I ordered a Chinese size 43 because there were reviews saying that Miof has narrow feet. For reference, Chinese size 43 is equivalent to US 9.5, which is equivalent to 275mm in our size. It felt quite light when I held it in my hand. When I measured it with a digital scale, it was quite heavy at 292g. It was about 5g heavier than the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 23. Unlike the details page, it was quite heavy for an elite runner to wear for competition. Rather, it seems more suitable for general runners to use for recovery or jogging. For me, who usually wears 270mm, the length was a bit long, so I had heel slips. I think 42 would be appropriate. However, when I tied the shoelaces tightly and ran, it wasn't bad to have a little extra. In summary, if you wear 270mm in Korean size and your foot width is between D and E, 42 would be appropriate, and if your foot width is wider, 43 would also be appropriate. Just like the Lining Red Rabbit 7, Chinese sizes generally seem to be 5mm smaller to get the right size. Chapter 3. Shoe Structure The upper is a polyester mesh upper that feels a little thick. It looks breathable and also has good heat retention, so it can be used in winter. My feet didn't get too cold even when I ran in cold weather. The suede feels a little short. I kept pulling it on consciously. The heel cup is thick and firm, and has a cushioned feel. On the outside, you can see the brand name MIOB&CYIO and the word FUALCA. The word FUALCA doesn't come out well even when I translate it with a translator. These shoes overall feel like I've seen them somewhere, and yes, that's right. They remind me of the New Balance SC Trainer. The midsole is said to be FOAM4+ elastic midsole. The cushioning is soft and fluffy. A lightweight carbon plate is inserted between the FOAM4+ elastic midsole, and MIOB&CYIO is written on the carbon plate. The outsole really seems to be a direct copy of the SC trainer. The wide outsole was good for landing stability. There was no excessive pronation or supination, which was the most concerning. The heel drop is 6mm, and the forefoot cushioning is satisfactory, and the heelfoot has abundant cushioning, which I liked the most. Chapter 4. Fit The two feelings I had when I first wore the Miob were, first, the color is pretty, and second, the cushioning is excellent. It is a design I have seen somewhere, but the colors are more diverse than that. Maybe that is why I saw many people using it for styling on Taobao, even if they are not runners. Many runners, including me, secretly like flashy shoes. I think it will suit the tastes of such runners. The midfoot felt a little tight, but since I went up a size, it did not feel too narrow, but rather slightly hugged me. The FOAM4+ elastic midsole is soft but has moderate elasticity, so runners who like comfortable max cushioning will like it. Chapter 5. Running Feel I wore the Miob and ran about 10 kilometers. I liked the forefoot cushioning when running with a cadence of 180. I could feel the true value of the abundant cushioning when landing on the heel of a downhill. However, the weight was a little heavier than I thought. The outsole was spread wide, so it felt stable. There was no sign of bending inward, so I could wear it comfortably. It seems to be a shoe suitable for a fun run where you run slowly rather than running at a fast pace. The only regret is that the outsole was already worn out even though I didn't run much. It's not as bad as the eraser outsole of the Hoka Mach 5. However, since it's cheap, I think I can use it diligently and buy a new one. These days, it's common for Korean running shoes to cost over 200,000 won, but I feel a little more at ease wearing Chinese brand running shoes, including Miob. I don't usually run fast, but I ran 500m in 4 minutes to feel the function of carbon. I could feel a heavy weight and a little elasticity. I thought my ankle strength should be stronger. Chapter 6. Owner of the shoe First, I recommend it to runners who want to try popular carbon shoes. Second, I recommend it to runners who like shoes with bright colors. Third, I recommend it to runners who are not averse to new brands and are looking for cost-effective shoes. Chapter 7. Interesting thing There is one mystery about MIOB that cannot be solved. No matter how much I Google the brand name MIOB&CYIO and search Naver, there are almost no posts. There are rumors that the headquarters is in Peru and Bolivia, but I have not been able to find a website yet. However, I can see that it is being sold at an online store called POIZON.COM, which is headquartered in Singapore, and the product I purchased from the official MIOB&CYIO store on Taobao was the same in appearance. As the name suggests, it is a very strange shoe. If you know any information, please let me know in the comments.
