Have you ever thought about where the stuff you flush down the toilet ends up? No? No wonder, after all, for most of us, that's the end of our business (big or small). But who actually ensures that we can flush the toilet with peace of mind? Robin finds out in the new episode of "follow me.reports". He accompanies 21-year-old Paul at work. He is a trained specialist in pipe, sewer and industrial services and makes it clear: the job of a sewer worker is not as disgusting as everyone thinks. We Germans use around 123 liters of water per person every day. Around a third of this is used to flush the toilet. It's a good thing that Paul and his colleagues are here. Because every day they ensure that the wastewater of 3.5 million Berliners first reaches the pumping station and then the sewage treatment plant. To maintain the sewers, they use highly professional technology - and sometimes their own hands. Together with Jean-Paul, Robin has to check a sewer and clean a blocked pump. A tough challenge for Robin. Does he dare to climb into the narrow sewer shaft? As always, Robin has your questions in store for the sewers. How does one actually come up with the idea of becoming a sewer worker? Do you get used to the smell? And what absurd things do you come across in the sewers? In addition to feces, shampoo residue and toilet paper, the employees of the Berlin Waterworks often find things in the sewers that don't actually belong in the toilet. Tampons and sanitary pads, for example. Wet wipes, rubbish, food scraps, diapers, syringes and other objects and substances also end up in the drainpipes and sewers. Pretty nasty. You want to make the sewer workers' job easier? Think first, then flush! _______________ IN THE VIDEO: Robin (RobBubble) on YouTube: / robbubble Robin (RobBubble) on Instagram: / robbubble Robin's “follow me.reports” playlist can be found here: • follow Robin SOURCES: Berliner Wasserbetriebe http://www.bwb.de/content/language1/d... http://www.bwb.de/de/1148.php Federal Association of the Energy and Water Industry: https://de.statista.com/statistik/dat... https://www.bdew.de/media/documents/2...
