The Word in Islam Tafseer of the Surah Maarij 7 Halis Bayancuk Hoca (Abu Hanzala) It has been narrated from Huzeyfe (ra): “The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) informed us of two incidents. I saw one of them and I am waiting for the other. The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) informed us that the trust descends into the depths of the hearts of the righteous. Then they learn knowledge from the Quran and then from the Sunnah. The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) then informed us about the removal of the trust and said, ‘A person sleeps. While he sleeps, the trust is erased from his heart and its trace remains as a simple scratch mark on the hand of the worker. Then, while he sleeps, the trust is taken away. Its trace and place are like a blister on the palm of a worker swinging an axe. (After a while it too will go out.) In that case, the trust is like a piece of fire that you drop on your foot and the place where it falls swells and you see it as a bubble. Yet, there is nothing (effective on the life of the body). (After a while it goes out.) People in that situation have reached the morning (of a difficult day) to do business with each other. No one can find the opportunity to fulfill the trust. For example, sometimes it is said, ‘There is a trustworthy person among so-and-so’s sons (let’s give the trust to him).’ Sometimes someone testifies in his favor, ‘He is so intelligent, so prudent, so elegant a man, so heroic!’ Yet, there is not a trace of faith in that person’s heart, as much as a mustard seed.’ Huzeyfe said, ‘I lived at a time when I did not worry about whom I would do business with. Because if the person I would have relations with was a Muslim, the religion of Islam would forbid him (from betraying me). If he was a Christian, the governor of the place where he was would forbid him from betraying me. Today, I cannot do business with anyone except so-and-so!’ (Bukhari, 6497; Muslim, 143) It was narrated from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn As (ra): The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Every sin of a martyr is forgiven except debt.” (Muslim, 1886) It was narrated from Abu Qatada (ra): “The funeral prayer of a man was brought to the Prophet (pbuh) so that he could lead the funeral prayer, and the Prophet (pbuh) said, ‘You lead the prayer for your companion because he has debts.’ I said, ‘I will pay that debt.’ The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, ‘Will you not be a guarantor for it?’ I said, “Yes, I will pay.” Thereupon, the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) led the funeral prayer for that person.” (Tirmidhi, 1069) It was narrated from Ukba ibn Amir (ra): The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “The most important conditions that you must fulfill are those that you make lawful for yourself along with your wives.” (Bukhari, 5151; Muslim, 1418) It was narrated from Anas ibn Malik (ra): “Whenever the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) delivered a sermon to us, he would say: ‘The one who has no trust has no faith. The one who has no promise has no religion.’ ”(Ahmed, 12383) Important Moments: 00:00 - Intro 01:18 - Introduction 07:36 - Another characteristic of believers who purify themselves by praying: They watch their words.
