I'm testing the Scheppach log splitter HL660 (here the newer successor HL760: https://amzn.to/3AHQMnc) for you. It is identical to the cheaper HL460 (https://amzn.to/3XuYTcj), only the support surface is 15cm smaller and the splitter has 4 instead of 6.5 tons of splitting power. For private use, the smaller one is probably enough. The newer model Scheppach HL760 has a little more splitting power (7t) and a 2 cm larger support surface than the HL660. Scheppach log splitter test I've been using the Scheppach log splitter for a few months now and have experienced the advantages and disadvantages first hand :-) In my video I show you how it works, what you should look out for and what isn't so good. Scheppach HL660 / HL 460 construction The Scheppach arrives ready for use. The box is huge and incredibly heavy (over 50kg). If you want to save yourself the hassle of lugging it around, just order it online. Scheppach supplies the HL660 and HL440 models with a protective grille to prevent any potential danger from flying pieces of wood. It's a good idea, but in practice it severely restricts operation due to a maximum diameter of 25cm. The installation instructions are also a disaster, so I'm not using them. Instructions for Scheppach HL460 and HL 660 The log splitter comes with a normal power plug, which means you just plug it into the socket and you're ready to go. Before you start splitting wood, you have to open the hydraulic screw. But that's it. The Scheppach log splitter is designed to be operated with two hands. You use one hand to operate the motor and the other to operate the hydraulics. To split a piece of wood, the switch and lever must be pressed at the same time. Scheppach HL660 /HL460 in practice It does what it's supposed to: It splits wood - any wood that fits in. It's easy to use. Only a workbench or a stand would be more practical here, as standing on grass is naturally a bit wobbly. The power plug is only 1.5m long, so an extension cable is almost always necessary. The Scheppach log splitter is relatively slow, so not for professionals. Test conclusion for the Scheppach log splitter It's absolutely OK for private use. Because it's available in many hardware stores, you can buy it at any time. Scheppach is also a German manufacturer and not a cheap Chinese product. The price of 270 euros (HL 660o) or 240 euros (HL 460) is absolutely OK and fair for the product and for private use. I would buy the log splitter again!
