Farmers from Austria and Bavaria want to offer a cheap alternative with small local heating systems. The new systems are to be operated with wood chips from the forests in the region. But financing issues, unclear funding options and the discussion about wood as a renewable energy source are worrying farmers and making the construction of such local heating networks a difficult task.
