A company from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania wants to take building with straw bales out of its niche and thus make house building greener. Building with straw has a significantly lower impact on the climate than building with conventional materials such as concrete. Six men, including three brothers, master carpenter Friedrich Mierau, master joiner Rüdiger Wäschle, product designers Friedenand Wäschle and Sebastian Däschle, environmental expert Simon Wander, economist Thorin Wäschle and tradesman Jaap Wijnants, have founded their company in the middle of the Tollense Valley. Here, in a converted farm barn, they use modern crane technology to build the individual building elements: walls made of wood and straw. The necessary boards are cut from regional wood in the farm's own sawmill; the electricity comes from the solar roof and the first female apprentice will soon be hired. The straw still comes from southern Germany, but talks are underway with a farmer from a neighboring village as a supplier. Their current order: a weekend house in Brandenburg - including roof construction. ______________________________________ The farm stories on ndr.de https://www.ndr.de/fernsehen/sendunge...
