Driving heavy goods transport is considered the supreme discipline for truckers. Until a few years ago, the bulky monsters with their extra length, extra width and accompanying vehicles were a male bastion. Today, women also sit behind the wheel of the giant trucks and transport loads all over Europe. In a world full of rough types, diesel fumes and tire wear, female truck drivers with heavy goods transport are still an exception. Whether the women confidently ignore the gender debate or consciously play with clichés on social networks - one thing is certain: their job is hard - and they love it. Particularly heavy and large loads are only transported on Europe's roads between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. The drivers are only allowed to sit behind the wheel for four hours twice. After that, they must take a nine-hour rest break. They are only allowed to stop at specially designated motorway parking spaces. The report accompanies two female truckers in their everyday lives: Iwona Blecharczyk (35) has been driving all over Europe from Poland for ten years. For her, it is the best job in the world. This time, a 35-ton wind turbine rotor is heading to the general cargo port in Bremen Neustadt. Always with her: Iwona's followers. Hundreds of thousands of people follow the adventures of the "Trucking Girl" on social media. What was initially just a way to pass the time during boring hours at rest stops has become a lucrative second job for Iwona Blecharczyk. A Barbie doll was even designed in her image. Anja Bowens (36) is also making her way in the male world of heavy-duty truck drivers. Her make-up case stays at home because she doesn't like the term "Trucker Babe," and on the three-night journey from Bavaria to northern Italy, she only needs a water canister and toothbrush on the side of the road.
