Maria Salete, 51, died after falling from an overpass that connects São Miguel to Jardim Helena, in the eastern part of São Paulo, on January 5. The overpass, over CPTM's 12-Safira line, is narrow, lacks adequate protection and has a high flow of vehicles. The family believes that the fall was accidental due to the dangerous conditions of the location. Residents had already requested a walkway and improvements to the structure.
