Would you think that you could use such a comparison? - Wolves are very sensitive towards each other within a family group. Especially the male and female, when the rut is approaching, practically do not leave each other's side, they say sweet words to each other. It's like squealing - says on the Scientific Radio Prof. Sabina Pierużek-Nowak, president of the Association for Nature "Wilk". The professor works at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Warsaw, but it was not easy to meet her in the capital. She usually lives where it is easier to study wolves: in a village in the mountains, adjacent to a forest. She is not afraid of wolves. She rather has a guilty conscience when she sometimes surprises one. - Their surprised, terrified eyes! And they jump two meters up, they run away - she says. In the 90s Prof. Pierużek-Nowak coordinated a campaign to protect wolves. Since it was successful, these predators are doing much better in Poland. But there are people who ignore this protection. According to research by Prof. Pierużek-Nowak, among others, mass, illegal culling is taking place in Poland. Annually, 140 individuals die from bullets in the country. So we also talk about those who shoot wolves, about those who set snares for them. But mainly we talk about the extraordinary nature of this species. Their journeys... one of the monitored wolves traveled from Switzerland all the way to Verona, meeting a partner along the way. Yes, of course they were called Romeo and Juliet. It is also about dogs. Is lying on the couch a wolf custom? It is about whether wolves distinguish dogs as a separate species, how they see the world and whether there are situations in which they can actually be dangerous. I highly recommend it! 💛 I recorded the conversation in the RN studio, which I was able to organize thanks to the support at https://patronite.pl/radionaukowe. Thank you very much!
