About :

We talk to Märten Kress about his investment strategies in dividend stocks and ETFs In the seventh episode of the Investment Club, we invite Märten Kress to visit us, with whom we discuss various principles and principles when investing in dividend stocks. In addition, we take a look at index funds traded on the stock exchange (ETF e. exchange trade fund) and find out what strategies Märten uses for these instruments as well. The important tools and aids that Märten uses on a daily basis cannot go unmentioned. Märten is known in the local investment community as the leader of the blog dividendinvestor.ee, in the financial sector as the former long-term fund manager of Danske pension funds. In the past, there is still a demand for wisdom at Aarhus University in Denmark and working in the Swedbank group, Eesti Pank and the Ministry of Finance. Today, Märten is mostly involved in managing his personal investments, advising and training entrepreneurs and private individuals, writing and also speaking on investment topics. In addition, he consciously tries to arrange his life in such a way that he regularly has enough freedom and flexibility to travel, pursue hobbies and spend time with loved ones. In the first part of the conversation, we start by examining Märten's general investment principles and find out: What is the structure of his portfolio? Why does he mostly prefer equity-based investments? How has his portfolio changed over time? Let's continue in more detail with one of Märten's specialties - dividend stocks - and investigate: What factors are important to him when choosing a potential investment? How has he built the stock analysis process for himself? How does he separate the wheat from the chaff? What aids and resources does he use to facilitate his analysis process? Which newer strategies are Märten interested in, which ones has he recently tested? In the second half of the conversation, we enter the exciting world of ETFs (exchange trade funds) and explore: What is an ETF as an instrument and how could it fit into an investor's portfolio? What are the most important ETF-related factors that Märten looks at when analyzing a potential investment? What to look for in different ETF providers for the same underlying asset & underlying index? Is and how reasonable is the implementation of a "buy and forget" strategy with a broad-based index fund? In the final phase of the show, we briefly discuss macro indicators and other tricks that Märten has gathered during his 10-year career as a fund manager: What are the different indicators that Märten takes into account to assess the health of the financial market today? Which regions and sectors does Märten see as attractive to him today? Is it possible to earn additional income by timing transactions and what tricks are used? PS!
