As part of the #AromatycznyBotaniczny Scented Year, we invite you to an extraordinary lecture by dr hab. Marta Wrzosek entitled "With a pig to mushrooms". The lecture took place on September 20, 2023. ???????????? The aroma of mushrooms is unforgettable. Especially for sows, which dig up the litter, guided by the smell of truffles and other underground mushrooms. ????❓ Why do they unerringly find places where fruiting bodies grow? What attracts them so much? During the lecture, you will also learn how to distinguish the poisonous spring mushroom from the equally spring shield mushroom, and what smells the mushroom gives off. ???????? We will also not forget to tell you about those mushrooms whose special smell is already included in their name. We will introduce you to both the stinkhorn and the herring cabbage. ––––– Season 2023 AROMATIC BOTANICAL – a year of scents in the Botanical Garden. Following the example of previous years, we have prepared several lectures for you – this time we encouraged you to experience the Garden using your sense of smell. Let's close our eyes for a moment and talk in the language of scents. Apart from appearance, one of the most important ways plants communicate with their surroundings is scent. Interaction with pollinators, repelling herbivores or attracting mycorrhizal fungi – these are just some examples of the scent communication between plants and their surroundings.
