We are bringing you a series of winter trips to Kagoshima. In the second part of this series, we will be sharing our stay at Hakusuikan, a long-established hot spring inn in Ibusuki. It is one of the few inns that has a sand bath hot spring within the building, and we enjoyed the hot spring, which is rare even worldwide. The rooms are in a separate building called the "Rikyu," and all of the rooms face the ocean, creating a high-quality space where you can forget about your daily routine. We also enjoyed a free tasting of the legendary shochu "Mori Izo" at the shochu dojo within the building, and enjoyed a variety of local dishes including Japanese black beef shabu-shabu.
