Broadcast in September 2011 The Tohoku Pacific Ocean Earthquake caused the Great East Japan Earthquake. The magnitude 9.0 earthquake was the largest ever recorded in Japan, and had enough energy to change the topography of the Japanese archipelago. Its effects extended to the Kanto region, and some researchers fear a massive earthquake could occur directly beneath the capital. Furthermore, some researchers warn of the existence of a "third Kanto earthquake" with a different epicenter from the Genroku earthquake of the Edo period and the Kanto earthquake of the Taisho period. Based on the latest research, we will explore the type of earthquake the capital region should prepare for.
