It was here, near Stara Grzybowszczyzna, that the prophet Elijah Klimowicz founded his community almost 100 years ago. For many years, the settlement was home to all his followers. Pilgrims also came here, often from distant villages, to be blessed by the prophet or to have their sins forgiven. Who was the prophet Ilya and what secrets does the settlement of Wierszalin hide? The mysterious dream of the prophet Ilya and the construction of the church Ilya Klimowicz was born in Stara Grzybowszczyzna, 10 kilometres from Krynki. At the beginning of the last century, according to legend, he had a dream, and to get its interpretation, he went on a pilgrimage to the vicinity of St. Petersburg, to Father John. In fact, however, he went for a blessing to build a church in his native village. "Father John was so fascinated by Ilya's arrival that he blessed him. He said: If you have come so many kilometres to meet me, then I would like to bless the construction. Maybe he said it in a humorous way: You are a holy man, Ilya. And the people who heard it in the immediate vicinity assumed that Ilya was a saint," says Radosław Brożyna, author of the book "The Night of the Prophet", which tells the story of the prophet Ilya. After returning from the pilgrimage, thanks to the words of Father Joan, Eliasz Klimowicz gained considerable popularity. Donations were collected in the surrounding villages for the construction of a church and it was spread that there would be an amazing place of worship here. "They said that here is a place where the church grows out of the ground by itself. The truth is that it was built thanks to the help of the faithful, which is why it happened so quickly."
