The documentary series portrays European cities from the perspective of the subway. In this episode: subway passengers talk about their Vienna and why this city is the most livable, but also the most unfriendly city in the world, with cosmopolitan and small-town mentalities. The first plans for an underground railway began in Vienna as early as the 1840s. More than 100 years later, the city council decided to convert the so-called Stadtbahn into an underground railway. Today, the system comprises five lines, is over 80 kilometers long and transports more than 1.3 million passengers every day. And Vienna's subway network is constantly growing: the new U5 line, for example, is planned to be fully automated. In the active tunnel of the U4, urban explorer @aka_thecity leads to his favorite place in Vienna's underground. He describes the appeal of visiting places that citizens do not have access to. On the way through the system, chart-topper Onk Lou, who can be heard regularly on Ö3, tries out his new songs in the subway and delights the passengers with his special voice. Night owls also get their money's worth in the Vienna subway, for example with a subway rave at the "Volkstheater" station. The passengers talk about their Vienna and why it is on the one hand the most livable, but on the other hand also the most unfriendly city in the world, with cosmopolitan and at the same time small-town mentalities.
