Millions of Germans do it - but only very few talk about it: cheating. Why is it still such a taboo subject to talk about cheating in a relationship? Do we need to rethink infidelity? And why do we cheat at all? Open marriages, polyamorous relationships - a common argument when it comes to cheating is that we humans are not made for monogamy! Science historian Prof. Thomas Junker researches the influence of evolution on human sexual behavior. He says: We humans would probably not have become human if men and women had not remained somewhat faithful to each other. Leon Winscheid finds out why in an interview. Personality psychologist Jun.-Prof. Janina Larissa Bühler knows how ambivalent our relationship to the topic of infidelity and cheating is: around 90% of Germans find affairs immoral, yet cheating occurs in around a quarter of all relationships. So do we as a society need a different view of the topic of infidelity? Leon wants to find out in a social experiment in which he talks to different people about their stories of cheating. He also meets a couple who, after 22 years of marriage, are suddenly left with nothing. Leon finds out what infidelity does to those who are cheated on. But also what it means for those who have cheated. ❗ This video is part of the Terra Xplore season “How Fake are you?”: https://kurz.zdf.de/92fS/ ******* CHAPTERS: 00:00 Intro: Why do people cheat? 00:39 Caroline: How does it feel to be cheated on? 04:01 Prof. Thomas Junker: Are we naturally monogamous? 06:40 Street survey: Where does infidelity begin? 08:28 Why do we view cheating so differently? 10:55 Caroline and Mark: Affair after 22 years of marriage 13:44 Experiment: Infidelity!
