Extended description: Russia is 9,000 kilometers long from one end to the other, which is more than the distance between London and New York, which is 5,570 kilometers. How can you efficiently manage such a vast country? Without a doubt, it is incredibly difficult to be realistic. Instead of focusing on the war with Ukraine, Russia should focus primarily on developing infrastructure. After all, let's face it, it is extremely outdated. When Poland had about 3,000 kilometers of expressways and highways in 2021, Russia, which is 51 times larger, had 4,500 kilometers. In 2023, Poles have almost equaled Russia. After all, it is a real absurdity when we are talking about such a vast country, which is supposed to be an international power. To get to Norilsk, for example, which is inhabited by almost 200,000 people, you must first drive this one-lane road to Tazovsky - and then 440 kilometers by train, plane or ship. We are talking about a distance roughly equivalent to driving across the length of Poland - where the A2 motorway is built, allowing travel at a speed of 140 kilometers per hour. Now consider that we are talking about a fairly large and extremely important Russian city in the context of raw materials, where 10% of the world's nickel resources, 6% of the world's copper resources, and almost the largest deposits of Platinum and Palladium are mined. This one city accounts for about 1% of Russia's entire GDP - and yet there is not even a road to it. According to data from the Federal Statistics Service of Russia from 2022, about 10% of Russian cities are not connected to roads. Most of them are small towns and villages located in hard-to-reach regions, such as Siberia or the Far East. Additionally, about 20% of Russian cities are connected to roads, but these are unpaved roads. In the case of Poland, there is not even a single such city - there may be poor quality surfaces at most, but officially there are no cities that are beyond the reach of the national road network. However, this is not the only shameful statistic we can talk about in the case of Russia. The Rosstat statistical center itself, in another of its research publications, states that 23% of Russian premises and homes do not have a flush toilet. Similar results are recorded in Belarus. The percentage of Polish homes and properties without a flush toilet in the comparable period, i.e. 2018, was around 6%. Today, in 2023, it is only 1.5%. #poland #russia #war
