Is France becoming a medical desert? The figures speak for themselves. Nationally, there are only 318 doctors per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 328 ten years ago). And as for their distribution, it is no better: in an attractive region like the south-east of France, the number of doctors per inhabitant is 1.6 times higher than in the Centre region. Although measures have already been taken to get back on track by training more general practitioners and specialists, the effect is not immediate. Medical density will continue to decline until 2028. How did we get to this point?
