There is no need to say that our food is salty. Our daily salt intake is 2.5 times the recommended amount by the World Health Organization (WHO). However, when you actually go abroad, there are many places that are saltier than our food. In my personal experience, Europe is the worst. Anyone who has traveled to Europe independently, not on a package tour, has probably had an experience where pizza, spaghetti, and soup were so salty that they could not eat them. My travel experience was similar. A few years ago, in the university city of Salamanca, Spain, I deliberately stopped by Burger King in search of food that was not salty, but even the hamburger was a lump of salt, so I gave up. Why do Europeans eat so salty? There are several minor reasons and one really important reason.
