In mathematics, there is an equation that is famous for its beauty: Euler's identity. It has been compared to great works of art, such as Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Michelangelo's David and a Shakespearean sonnet that “captures the very essence of love”. Its creator, Leonhard Euler, is one of the most influential mathematicians in history, but few know him. Euler made decisive contributions to almost all areas of pure and applied mathematics, physics and technological developments linked to both sciences.
