The pyramids of Giza have fascinated people for thousands of years. The buildings may have perfect geometric shapes, but are completely unadorned on the outside. However, this fascinating geometric shape is not an Egyptian monopoly. Even the emperor in faraway China chose the shape for his tomb and rebuilt entire landscapes for it. Pyramids can be found all over the world. Why do we find this shape almost everywhere, from the Maya in Central America to modern-day Iran, in other words in cultures that were far apart and knew nothing about each other? Harald Lesch investigates this question in the latest episode of the series "Unsolved Cases in Archaeology". //Team// Written and directed by: Gisela Graichen and Peter Prestel Editing: Klaus Hernitschek VFX: Jörg Courtial, Philipp Clermont, Timm Schwehm //Chapters// 00:00 Intro 01:36 Pyramids in Egypt 05:35 Pyramids in Peru 12:15 Pyramids in China 19:10 Modern pyramids 20:14 Ziggurat in Iran 24:48 Pyramids in Central America 31:48 Stepped construction on Tenerife This video is a ZDF production in cooperation with Peter Prestel Filmproduktion. #TerraX #pyramid #archaeology More episodes You can find unsolved cases in archaeology here ???????????? kurz.zdf.de/Arch Subscribe?
