Son stabs parents: On the evening of April 30, 2019, a young man stabs his parents in Weilerswist. He later testifies in court that he wanted to free himself from his father and mother and therefore destroy them. With 30 stab wounds each, he first kills his 62-year-old father, then his 60-year-old mother, who had managed to call the emergency services beforehand. The police find the perpetrator Max H. (name changed) in his room. He is sitting at his desk and talking incomprehensibly to himself. The police want to arrest Max H., but he evades them. Max H. leaves the house and goes out into the street. Even two cans of pepper spray cannot stop him. Only after reinforcements are called is he arrested. During the trial, Max H. testifies that he experienced violence at the hands of his parents. However, the court sees no evidence of this and sentences the young man to life imprisonment. Criminal psychologist Lydia Benecke explains why people are more likely to kill someone close to them than a stranger. Due to the high number of stab wounds, the officers on the scene are faced with a gruesome sight. Police chaplain Norbert Schmitz explains what help is available for officers in such cases and how they can deal with it. ___ Table of contents: 0:00 Intro 1:05 The initial situation 4:10 The crime 6:30 The pressure on the emergency services 10:40 The perpetrator 11:40 The arrest 12:30 Why would someone kill their own parents? 16:05 The trial 22:12 Conclusion ___ Author: Natalie Meyer Host: Riem Karsoua Camera: Jonas Schumacher Sound: Rebecca Zieseniß Editing: Richard Dominicus Winkels Editors: Mareike Maack, Christina Lütticke, Vanja Petrovic Back office: Nico Weinberger, Lisa van den Brandt ????Music: Nikdaijai. https://nikdaijai.com ____ If you are interested in other criminal cases from NRW, follow our channel ➡️ / @wdrlokalzeitmordorte ❗️ You can read a detailed interview with Lydia Benecke here: https://www1.wdr.de/lokalzeit/verbrec...
