And Voldemort’s terror of death reminds me a lot of the same fear that Nearly Headless Nick talks about in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: “I feared death. I chose not to fully accept it. Sometimes I wonder if I should have…” Nearly Headless Nick feared death and that’s why he decided to return to the world of the living as a ghost. He never died, he never felt what it meant to die, and his spirit was able to remain in the world of the living for all eternity. This is not far from what Voldemort wanted to achieve. To never feel what it’s like to die and to somehow live forever. But why did Voldemort never consider this option if what he wanted was to live forever? And more importantly, could he have returned as a ghost after the creation of his Horcruxes? Hello Magical Beings!
