Ukraine has completed a week of its biggest incursion on Russian soil since the war began. The Ukrainian army claims that thousands of its soldiers have seized nearly 1,000 square kilometres in the Russian border region of Kursk. The local government maintains that the area occupied is much smaller, but admits that the Ukrainians have taken 28 villages and that nearly 120,000 inhabitants have been evacuated.
