And we have another cylinder head that has arrived for repair. As always, the work begins with disassembling the cylinder head and its defect detection. And everything would be fine, but when we started dismantling the valve seals, we noticed that on the bottom of the head around the valve guide sleeve, where the seal is located, here it is in the shape of a mushroom, the remains of the sealant are clearly visible. Let's look at the back of the removed mushroom seal. As we can see, yes, there is sealant on the back of the seal. Just one question. Why? The only explanation that comes to mind is that during the previous repair, a certain mechanic, while replacing the valve guide bushings, made burrs in the guide seating areas when dismantling the old bushing. In such cases, oil squirts through the damaged seating areas. And apparently, by smearing the bearing part of the valve seal with sealant, this mechanic localized the possible penetration of oil through these burrs into the cylinders. What do you think about this?
