In 1 Kings 13, an older prophet lied to a younger prophet as a test of obedience. The older prophet wanted to see if the younger one would obey God’s word that had been given to him. Unfortunately, the younger prophet failed the test, disobeyed God, and ended up dying as a result. This serves as a lesson in the importance of strict obedience to God’s word and the seriousness of the consequences when we disobey it.
