Today we finally get to test drive the brand new BMW M5, and its opponents in the race are the Audi RS6 and the AMG GT 63 S in four-door trim! The BMW M5 may have received a fair amount of criticism since its unveiling, but is it justified? It’s time to hit the track and find out! So, what’s under the hood? Well, it’s got a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 paired with an electric motor. Together, they produce 727 hp and 745 lb-ft of torque, and that power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The car weighs 5,435 lbs, and when new, it costs around £111,000. Alongside it, we have the Audi RS6 Performance. It’s powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that can produce 440 hp and 630 lb-ft of torque. It’s sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and it weighs 2,075kg. A new RS6 Performance starts at £116,000. And finally, we have the four-door AMG GT 63 S. It also has a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 producing 639hp and 666lb ft of torque. It’s sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic gearbox, and it weighs 4,135lb ft. A used version of the 2019 four-door GT costs around £70,000, but a brand new one costs around £156,000!
