Its mystery began in the late 19th century, when inventor Nikola Tesla reported receiving unknown radio signals that were considered signs of intelligent life. Later, similar signals were observed by the Norwegian engineer Jørgen Hals, and these long-delayed echoes were called LDE phenomena. In the 1950s and during the Cold War, sightings of the mysterious satellite intensified. There were reports of unidentified objects in orbit around the Earth at a time when mankind had not yet sent satellites into space. The findings were accompanied by several newspaper articles and military interest, as the objects were feared to be related to Soviet projects. In the early 1960s, the famous astronaut Gordon Cooper reported seeing a strange green light on his Mercury 9 flight, but officially his sighting was explained as a hallucination. Scottish researcher Duncan Lunan, on the other hand, believed that the LDE signals contained a message that the satellite came from the star Epsilon Boötis, but he later questioned his own interpretations. Photos taken in 1998 from the STS-88 mission sparked renewed interest – the images showed a dark object in Earth orbit, believed by many to be the Black Knight satellite. However, NASA explained that it was a detached thermal blanket, but skeptics did not accept the explanation. The mystery of the Black Knight satellite is partly based on misunderstandings, partly on people's desire to find supernatural explanations for inexplicable things. Many of the observations can be explained by the technological limitations of the era, suspicions of secret military projects and scientifically unknown phenomena. While the idea of ​​an ancient satellite is intriguing, the evidence is insufficient to support the claim of its existence.
