Afra Saraçoğlu… When she was born, the calendar showed December 2, 1997… She was born in the Edremit district of Balıkesir to a family originating from Thessaloniki and Crete. She was the only child of the family. Her parents divorced when she was very young. Left alone with her mother, Afra’s struggle for life began when she was still a child. In an interview she gave to Hakan Gence from Hürriyet, Afra Saraçoğlu describes her childhood years as follows; “First, we were in Balıkesir. Then we moved to Antalya. My mother worked in a real estate company. I was going to school. We helped each other and became friends, we looked after each other. My mother never tried to reflect her financial difficulties on me. But I was aware of everything. That’s why the years were not rosy. I think my masculinity comes from there. I protected and looked after my mother, she looked after me. That’s why when we moved to Istanbul, when I started earning money, and when I was acting, I did everything much more consciously.” His interest in acting also started when he was a child. He would wear costumes he sewed himself and act out scripts he wrote. This sweet blue-eyed boy was saying, “I came to be an actor.” He was especially a fan of the Burhan Altıntop character in Avrupa Yakası, written by Gülse Birsel. He would constantly imitate him at home. His imitations were not limited to Burhan Altıntop. He would do whatever he saw on TV. In fact, he once had a stuttering problem during his childhood, due to imitating “stuttering.” Afra Saraçoğlu tells the following story about what happened to her on the program “Tonight with İbrahim Selim”: “I got used to a tic since my childhood and then I gave it up. I have a memory like this. I used to stutter when I was a child. I could hardly speak. My mother takes me to the doctor. The doctor says there is nothing wrong with this girl, she talks normally. My mother says, “How can you say she stutters?” I was acting to attract attention. I stuttered while acting. Then that stuttering went away.” Both economic conditions and the desire to be an actor pushed her to work early. When she was only 13, she started modeling to help support the family financially. Her colorful eyes, clear beauty, sitting, standing... In short, Afra attracted attention with everything... However, this beauty also caused her unwanted problems from time to time. She suffered a lot from this, especially during her school years. The famous actress had said the following on the İbrahim Selim ile Tonight Program; “I started to approach people more distantly. Because I was being bullied a lot at school. When I was walking down the hallway, they would come up behind me for no reason and shoulder me.” Afra Saraçoğlu, who started modeling at the age of 13, made her acting debut directly on the big screen with Özcan Deniz’s movie İkinci Şans in 2016 while continuing her education at Eskişehir Anadolu University. Then my mother sends a message. My mother sent me the message without knowing that they were looking for a girl with colored eyes to play Nurgül Abla’s daughter. Then they call me… I consider this a great opportunity.” Her first days in Istanbul were not easy. The financial difficulties she experienced had exhausted her quite a bit. After all, she was a university student and naturally had a student loan to pay. The beautiful actress paid off her KYK loan with the money she first earned. Although she did not have a leading role in her first project, Afra Saraçoğlu, who starred in the same movie as important names such as Özcan Deniz and Nurgül Yeşilçay, shared the leading role with Tolga Sarıtaş in the movie Bad Child the very next year.
