A year has passed since her presentation video ( • SÒPHY, beautiful but with a paw of... ), no one has ever called for her, and SOPHY, a free dog cared for in the Ginosa area with an injured paw, continued to live on the streets. Her base was a large piece of land in the Cesine district, the same one that hosted Wendy and Peter (watch the video to the end and you will know about them). At a certain point, however, SOPHY decided to change area and moved from the countryside to the outskirts of the town, together with her 2 big brothers, twice her size. Evidently someone did not like their presence and on November 14, suddenly, SOPHY found herself IN MATERA.... When we went to look for her, we did not find her, even though she was continuously reported. The Local Police arrived before us, calling the dog catcher and the doors of the municipal dog shelter in Matera opened for SOPHY.... Unfortunately, when a dog is caught by the police, it follows the procedure of entering the shelter and from that moment on, the return can only take place when the owner contacts the municipality that owns the facility via certified email. Since the municipality of Ginosa is the legitimate owner of SOPHY, and not us, we had to wait 2 days to obtain the authorization needed to return her. Once we got her back, where could we take her? On the street in Ginosa... oh dear! I often find myself explaining to my followers from all over Italy why I don't pull a little place out of my hat, where I can take the stray dogs I meet to safety. Every time I have the distinct feeling that I haven't been convincing and that I'm only understood by volunteers like me, who publish appeals on the web, having no other solution. What do I hope for when I make an appeal for cases like SOPHY's: to be contacted by someone who, unlike me, has the possibility of keeping the dog in a boarding house until adoption. Many volunteers get help of this kind, I myself have gotten it, with Sandra, Audrey, Wendy, Peter, Mila, Lupetto... Personally I am very careful who I entrust these souls to, when I don't know who contacts me. Once a person called me who didn't even know what she was willing to do and I preferred to let it go, because I had sensed that she wouldn't take care of the boarding house until the end, but only for a certain time. How would I manage when that time was up? And then how many, how many psychopathic people hide among animal lovers........ People who, if they don't get the gratification they expect for what they do, even threaten you and try to harm you... I'll make a video on this topic sooner or later.... Returning to SOPHY, if I were to take her to a paid place, I have to be aware that she will stay there for a long time. If they haven't adopted her so far, probably because of the injured paw, when I go to take her blood and almost certainly find out that she has some Mediterranean disease, I will alienate a lot of people interested in her. Yet leishmaniasis, ehrlichia and the like are not the end of the world! Mira was recently adopted with so much love and conviction, despite having gone from dubious leishmaniasis to positive leishmaniasis. Ditto Amy, ditto Gremlins and Gaia and Keren. All HEALTHY dogs, even if HIV positive. All well-informed adopters supported in their choice by their vets. But we are not all the same, even though we all deserve respect for our ideas. For this I go further, I'm not going to argue, the adoption, even if late, will come. Let's hope that SOPHY resists and nothing happens to her until her astral conjunction arrives.
