WHERE SHOULD THE HOURMETER BE INSTALLED ON AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY? In this video, I explained in a simple and dynamic way about the correct installation of the hourmeter on agricultural machinery. Some time ago I already posted a video about hourmeters, where I explained how they work and how to count the hours in whole hours and minutes, the link to this video is at the end of this description! The battery fault light is turned on at the ignition switch, the switch is connected to the positive terminal of the battery. On the opposite side, the fault lamp is connected to the alternator's D+ (the D+ is in series with the rotor's field winding, and the rotor is connected to the voltage regulator and alternator housing). When we turn the ignition key halfway, the fault lamp comes on and an electric current passes through it; this current comes from the battery towards the field winding. When we start the machine's engine, the rotor starts to turn and the production of electric energy begins. From this moment on, the fault lamp goes out, because now it is the alternator itself that starts to supply energy to the field winding and in this way the potential difference (DDP - Voltage) between the field winding and the vehicle's battery is extinguished. Through this explanation we can understand why the hour meter must be installed on the alternator's D+.
