If we were to ask ourselves what is the most innovative, technological and cutting-edge car of our time, what would we answer? Tesla, Ferrari, maybe Porsche. All probable answers and, in their own way, justifiable. Once upon a time, however, a long time ago, almost everyone, in every part of the world, would have answered with another car manufacturer: Lancia. If you don't believe us, follow us in this new documentary where we will try to discover what it feels like to drive the legendary Lancia Aprilia, a car from almost 90 years ago. A model that, for its time, was light years ahead of all its competitors. And, to understand it, we drove it up and down Italy, during a stage of the Mille Miglia 2024. The opportunity, more unique than rare, to take the wheel of such a piece of traveling history was born thanks to the Italian Army, which made available to us a splendid example preserved in the prestigious Historical Museum of Military Motorization in Rome, which, for years, has been concerned with preserving and enhancing the vehicle heritage of the Italian Army. After all, the Aprilia Berlina was produced in over 3,000 units for the Ministry of War, then renamed Ministry of Defense after the War, for which it remained in service until the 1950s. This car was assigned to army commands and staff officers, which is why it is easy to see it in numerous film appearances dedicated to those years. And it was even flanked by a modified tactical version, called the Lancia Aprilia Coloniale.
