Not only do they have to face the harsh training intensity and the lurking risk of injury, they also have to sacrifice precious time for family, friends and sometimes even their personal dreams outside of sports as well as the care they give themselves. This week's Have A Sip welcomes the participation of former National Swimmer - Anh Vien, one of the most outstanding swimmers in the history of Vietnamese swimming. During her peak career, she has set many domestic and international records, owning a fortune of more than 150 medals of all kinds, including 25 SEA Games Gold Medals. A decade of dominating the Southeast Asian green race with a record far surpassing the number 2, Anh Vien caused a stir when she announced her retirement at the age of 25. The "little mermaid" has had a 15-year journey associated with swimming: from her childhood practicing breathing underwater with her grandfather in the small creek behind her house to wearing the national team jersey, bringing glory to the Fatherland. Also in that 15-year journey of dedication to her swimming career, she has faced many risks of injury, pressure to always win or the pain of receiving doubts and criticism about her performance and especially the damage in her own appearance. It is the dark skin due to the harsh training intensity, the short hair cut for quick bathing and neatly covered in a swimming cap so as not to hinder swimming or the silver locks from the pool water that cannot be dyed at any salon. But it is also those things that have created the current Anh Vien, an Anh Vien who loves herself the way she wants and an Anh Vien who is willing to give up her glorious career to enjoy the mission of awakening the love of swimming for millions of Vietnamese children. Watch Have A Sip to listen to the story of Anh Vien - a girl who dares to fail, to grow up, to conquer herself and is not afraid to give up to start the journey that she belongs to. — If you like this podcast, you can donate to Have A Sip at: ● Patreon: / vietcetera ● Buy me a coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/vietcetera — Leave your comments, feedback or collaboration requests at email address [email protected] — If you are too busy to watch the video, you can listen to this podcast in audio format at: ► Vietcetera Podcast: https://vietcetera.com/vn/podcast/hav... ► Spotify: https://share.vietcetera.com/3wmvLKi ► Apple Podcast: https://share.vietcetera.com/3iwRZl3 — Thank you Dove for accompanying Have A Sip in the podcast series honoring Vietnamese women.
