For all rose lovers, the long-awaited time is coming - receiving orders from nurseries of rose seedlings with an open root system. Sending seedlings is usually carried out according to the schedule of approaching cold weather, which means that first of all, seedlings go to the north of our country, then to the central region and at the very end they are sent to the southern cities. Why is it so, and not the other way around? Rose seedlings, nurseries, begin to dig in mid-late August, since by this time the rose is ready for shipment. Roses are dug up gradually, not all at once, and then packed and that's it - our orders have flown to all corners of the country. Rose seedlings need to be planted in cool soil, the temperature of which should be +12 degrees and below, and the average daily temperature should be up to +10. If the soil is above 12 degrees, and the average daily temperature is above 15 degrees - this is the growth energy for roses, which means the bud will burst and soon freeze. As a result, you can forget about the riot of colors. And such a consequence can completely lead to the death of the seedling. This is why shipments from the north begin, since from mid-September there is almost winter already. The optimal time for planting bare-root seedlings for the middle zone is the end of September - beginning of October. But the middle zone is extremely unstable - it can be so hot in October that it will not do any good to roses, or snow has already started to fall - another risk.. The seedling needs 2 weeks to take root. And if the seedling goes into winter without taking root, it will survive the winter, but with the onset of spring it will die, since the seedling has no suction roots, and with the first warm days and caressing rays of the sun, the awakening and growth of buds is activated. This growth is provided by a supply of nutrition and moisture in the shoots themselves, and since there are no roots, the reserve quickly depletes the seedling and it dies. So you can't guess here. In the end, either you are the master or the devil. From the Soviet literature on rose culture, you can take the most important point - roses were not planted in the fall in the central zone and in the north, the organization was only IN THE DIGGER. But now the Internet is ahead of the rest of the world and old scientific treatises are no longer in favor. Hence the attacks of rose growers, both experienced and novice amateurs. And it is to the advantage of nurseries, here I think everyone understands what I mean????. The nurseries themselves do not plant their roses, but send the reserve to the hoard, although it would seem, why not sell everything at once in the autumn delivery - interesting, isn't it??? Yes, all because forcing roses are much more expensive. A rose in bloom is bought much more often than bald thorns. So everything is extremely clear and understandable - expensive, rich! Hence the conclusion - planted in the heat, it will freeze. Planted in the cold - it will dry out in the spring. And getting into the exact corridor of temperature for a favorable background for planting a seedling, together with the arrival of the rose to the buyer, are extremely insignificant. A real RUSSIAN ROULETTE. So I have excellent seedlings, but the bud of the roses burst and is already the size of a grain of rice. By planting such seedlings directly in open ground, the shoots will grow 15 centimeters, and then, with the first minus at -2 degrees, they will become half past five ????. Alas, we have already been through this, we know. So here planting is needed in a technical pot for mobility. That is, we plant a rose in a pot, rooting it, during which the seedling vegetates, and as soon as the weather starts to go bad, we extend the growth in the greenhouse. And in the greenhouse, the seedling will be able to survive until mid-to-late November. And this is a FACT. Let me remind you that a rose needs 45 days from the moment the bud awakens to flowering, and this is a month and a half. So, by rooting the rose now, it will bloom in mid-October. And it will also overwinter just fine. But that's not all! To minimize risks, we send the seedlings to the trench directly in the pot, since the soil best preserves the integrity and safety of the shoots. But remember, even having dug in the seedlings in the greenhouse, we must throw snow on top. Since snow is the best cover and without it the soil will freeze so much that no bare earth will preserve the roses at all costs. In early spring, after the snow and soil have melted, we take out the pots and, simply placing them in the greenhouse, fo
