To get to Consuegra, I recommend going by car or signing up for an excursion. There are not very good public transport connections from Toledo. To park, you can choose to park in the town and walk up to the windmills or park your car at the foot of the castle. The structure of this castle is unusual. It is basically made up of a square central body with a large cylindrical tower on each of its sides. The castle is surrounded by a barrier of which only the remains remain in the part that faces the courtyard. The origins of this castle date back to a Muslim fortress from the Caliphate period of the 10th century. Built on the plain of La Mancha, the town of Consuegra is a clear example of a Castilian and Toledo municipality. We found typical Manchegan buildings, located in the old town, which are definitely worth getting lost in to observe its architecture and its main square. Visiting Consuegra does not require much preparation. Everything important can be visited in half a day, so you can combine the excursion with a visit to Campo de Criptana or El Toboso, the home of Don Quixote's Dulcinea.
