It is called the Venice of Northern Europe, even though it has more canals than the city in question, and its canals date back to the 17th century and are on the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage. The city also has as many as 1281 bridges, which is more than in any other city in Europe, but perhaps the most fascinating thing about it is the way the city was built. Namely, the city is placed on as many as 11 million wooden pillars that support the entire city and prevent it from sinking. Throughout history, Amsterdam has become one of the influential trading ports of this part of the world, and in the age we live in, it has become one of the most interesting cities in this part of Europe.
