The tools used in post-harvest cultivation are often a disc harrow combined with, for example, a string roller. The discs cut crop residues and mix them with the soil quite well, but unfortunately they do not destroy deep-rooted weeds well. A disc harrow should not be used in fields heavily infested with couch grass. It is a creeping weed and cutting it will only intensify this condition. In such a case, a cultivator with stiff paws is a better solution, which will pull out the weed runners.
