The first stage of this journey begins on the surface, where the Earth's thin and rigid crust constitutes the outermost layer. This crust, which can be up to 70 kilometers thick beneath the continents, is home to a wide variety of landscapes, from towering mountains to vast plains and deserts. Going deeper, we enter the mantle, an area of ​​semi-solid rock. The mantle extends to a depth of 2,900 kilometers and is responsible for the tectonic movements that shape the Earth's surface. Continuing the descent, we reach the transition zone between the mantle and the outer core. The outer core, composed mainly of liquid iron and nickel, is located between 2,900 and 5,150 kilometers below the surface.
