Guest at Auf Trab is Andreas Hausberger, head rider at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, who grew up with Haflingers. He switched to Lipizzaners not only for professional reasons: Hausberger loves the old Austrian-Iberian breed and also thinks Lipizzaners are ideal leisure partners. Leisure riders could learn a lot from the riding and horse training at the Riding School. For example, that the horse should always be the focus, that it is not the slave but the partner of its two-legged friend. That the most important thing is an independent seat and that you should therefore take regular seat training on the lunge. That the warm-up and cool-down phases are very important during training and that working in hand with long reins is a fine art. Under no circumstances should you bore your horse by doing the same lessons every day. It is better to focus on one lesson each day.
