After entering the University of Tsukuba, he continued to lead the team as captain, achieving results such as the runner-up in the Prime Minister's Cup and the Kanto University League. After graduating from university, he coached at Kumamoto Commercial High School for five years, and was assigned to Otsu High School in 1993.
