Tremolo picking is a widely used resource on a technical level due to its characteristic sound, although it can be used in any musical style, it is frequent in genres such as metal, today we will explain what it consists of and how it works. If you want to go deeper here I explain why alternate picking is so important and how to study it: • Why alternate picking is so important ... In today's lesson we will see tremolo picking, we will talk about how it works and we will see how to apply it on different rhythm figures. Tremolo picking is a resource that in a few words we can explain how to play the same note as fast as you can with your right hand, it can be done with a pick or with fingers, for this lesson we are going to focus on working with a pick. In order to be able to play a note repeatedly as many times as possible, it is necessary to work using alternate picking, it is what allows us to play repeatedly, quickly and fluidly. The main characteristic of Tremolo picking is that we must repeat the same note, but not in a measured way. We will repeat a note as fast as we can, we will do it for the required time, whole, half, quarter, but we will not measure the number of notes we play with the right hand. We will also talk about the technical risk that is run when using this resource, since it helps us achieve speed, but if applied incorrectly it generates a dirty sound. The big problem with Tremolo picking is that when we see that with it we can achieve speed, we may try to do something similar with the left hand, trying to match them. This may work in principle, but the idea is precisely to achieve precision with both hands, to match them. With this technique we run the risk of getting a dirty sound by not being able to synchronize the two hands. Finally, in our question and answer segment we will talk about scales, composition and functional hearing.
