There is a substantial difference between the two terms but they are often confused and used improperly. PPI stands for Pixels per Inch and is the unit of measurement of the resolution of a digital image. DPI is instead Dot per Inch, that is, Dots per Inch. Dots are nothing more than the drops of ink that are sprayed at high speed by the print head and that are deposited on the material.
