One of the most interesting, terrifying and memorable monsters that we have seen in the world of animated cinema and in the horror genre is the other mother also known as the Beldam which is a monstrous and chilling creature that appears in the entertaining 2009 film titled Coraline which was written and directed for the cinema by the talented Henry Selick based on the novel of the same name written by the legendary author Neil Gaiman who is also the author of other very cool works such as Sandman. The film was produced by the legendary gothic horror director Tim Burton, and also starred the talented Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher, John Hodgman, Jennifer Saunders, Keith David and Ian Mcshane. The Beldam is a very mysterious entity that seeks to attract children who come to live inside the apartments known as the Pink Palace and seeks to make them enter her dimension, then here she tries to convince them that she is actually their other mother or their second mother but after a while, she begins to despair as she seeks to consume her prey and that is why her disguise falls off and her malevolent and terrifying attitude is revealed, this is when the Beldam seeks to sew button eyes to her prey in order to then devour their flesh and their souls. It is because of all the mystery that surrounds her, how powerful and terrifying she is, and the important role she plays in the plot of the film that the Beldam is considered one of the best villains and monsters of the children's horror genre and animated horror.
