"Operakugo" is a combination of opera and rakugo! I started "Operakugo" when I was about 30 years old. I've been doing it for over 30 years now. Thanks to you, it has finally become my life's work. My goal is to have the audience understand the plot of the opera without a commentary. The best way to do that is through rakugo! A stage is set up in the center of the stage, and I speak the plot of the opera in the style of rakugo. When it comes to the part where this aria is essential, a singer comes out and sings it. Of course, the orchestra plays ♬ Not only solo, but sometimes duets, and sometimes I join in too... The story progresses with laughter. And at the end, there is a punch line. It's both opera and rakugo. It's truly Operakugo! In this video, I talk about how I started working on "Operakugo" and perform a little bit of the opening of "The Marriage of Figaro" by Mozart. Please feel free to enjoy it (^-^) Bonus video (singing practice), it's embarrassing, but please watch it with a smile (^◇^;) Yone Danji #Opera #Mozart #Katsura Yone Danji #Kyoto Arts Theater #Shunjuza #Yone Danji's life work
