On December 27, 2022, the European Union published the long-awaited second directive on measures for a high common level of cybersecurity in the Union - or NIS-2 Directive for short - in its Official Journal, after it was adopted by the Council on November 28 last year (Directive 2022/2555, text available at: https://intrapol.org/2023/01/05/aktue.... The regulatory objective of NIS-2: Nothing other than deepening and expanding the content of cybersecurity requirements to improve the protection of the EU internal market and adapt it to the current threat situation in the sense of strengthening, modernizing and expanding key requirements. Since this is a directive and not a regulation, the European member states must implement the new legal act into national law by October 17, 2024.
