Logical, the question of financing being central to a doctorate. However, it is not clear in the minds of doctoral candidates, who often think: That financing is not mandatory That you can finance your thesis by working Only doctoral schools can grant research funding That funding must be found before the first registration However, it is appropriate to qualify and clarify some of these beliefs. ▬▬▬▬▬ SUMMARY ▬▬▬▬▬▬ 1:28 Financing is not mandatory? 4:38 Can you finance your thesis by working? 6:52 Only doctoral schools can grant research funding 9:17 Funding must be found before the first registration? ▬▬▬▬▬ WHO AM I? ▬▬▬▬▬▬ My name is Erika Dupont, I have been a PhD student in contemporary art history since 2020. Without funding for three years, I completed my thesis thanks to funding from the prestigious Yale University. During my studies, I was faced with many questions and like most PhD students, I was very poorly supported in all my efforts and my journey has really been that of a fighter. I have always been keen to help PhD students. At the beginning of my doctoral studies, I was elected to represent PhD students on the Laboratory Councils and the doctoral school, and now I want to devote myself entirely to supporting PhD students. Why? Because if I had been supported myself, I would have saved precious time, I would have made fewer mistakes, I would have fumbled less and I would have asserted myself much more quickly in the research community. I would have lost much less energy and probably earned my living much sooner. Instead, I remained precarious for years and today, I want to help as many doctoral students as possible to get out of this precariousness by giving them the keys that I acquired through the sweat of my brow. 🛎 SUBSCRIBE! 🛎 👉 / @erikadupont 👉 The Blog: https://erikadupont.com/blog/ 👉 Facebook: / dupont.erika 👉 Insta: / erika.dupont_vstein
