Considered why I use decibels in acoustic systems. Sound is a wave or oscillation with different pressure zones. In fact, our hearing organs perceive sound as some pressure that differs from atmospheric. We are able to perceive the pressure range in very wide limits. Since the intensity or power of sound is proportional to the square of the pressure, then this range is even more significantly expanded.
